A few details help us send the right tech with the right parts, so the job gets done in one visit:
- Your address, and the best number to reach you
- What's happening: a leak, no hot water, a clog, no heat, a gas smell
- Where it is: kitchen, bathroom, basement, attic or outside
- For a water heater or boiler: gas, oil or electric, and its age if you know it
- Whether you've already turned off the water or the gas
We confirm the price before any work starts. For a typical price range first, try our cost estimator. For what a job usually involves, see plumbing repair or water heater installation.
Before We Arrive
A few minutes of the right steps can save a ceiling, a floor or a lot worse.
Water Leak
Shut the main water valve, usually where the line comes through the basement wall. Turn off the water heater if it's leaking, and move anything valuable out of the way.
Leak detectionBackup or Clog
Stop running water anywhere in the house, and don't use chemical drain cleaners: they rarely clear a real clog and make the repair harder.
Drain cleaningGas Smell or No Heat
If you smell gas, get everyone out and call 911 or your gas utility from outside. With no heat, check the thermostat and the furnace or boiler switch, then call the HVAC line.
